- (This is for a friend.)
-
- The situation is, he wants to connect a server (DECstation 5000/240) and
- some workstation clients (DECstation 5000/25) to a local TCP/IP network.
- We have the documentation from DEC and it does give some instructions
- on how to get machines up and running, but I'm looking for a more general
- overview. He'll soon be getting disparate systems in (Sun, IBM, SGI, HP,
- PCs running UNIX and DOS) and wants a "model" or "template" of things to
- check for and look for. Is there any documentation (on the net or
- O'Reilly or whatever) or general tips that anyone could provide? I'm
- simply not organized enough to give him what he's looking for. I know
- "up here" <points to head> what I'd do, but I think the only way that
- I could get that information on paper in a usable form would be to set
- up his systems. (And no, I'm NOT doing that for him! :) )
