  12. This is a simple question to many, but why doesn't TeX recognize a space
  13. as a non-character? (such as the line, "/tex program" would appear 
  14. "TeXprogram" when run through the formmater). Why doesn't the formatter
  15. recognize the space between /tex and "program" as being a non-character,
  16. therefore recognizing that the command name is finished?
