- Many thanks for pointing out the errors; you are indeed correct. I've
- now corrected my local information. Both answers are a bit long for a
- FAQ. Perhaps a better FAQ and answer would be a list and description
- of what manuals and guides exist about LaTeX and TeX and where to get
- them. Off the top of my head (and checking the ymir archives), I can
- think of
-
- LaTeX: User's Guide and Reference Manual by Leslie Lamport
- The TeXbook by Donald Knuth (and pointing out that this is useful even
- for people who only LaTeX)
- A Gentle Introduction to TeX by Michael Doob
- Using TeX on the VAX to Typeset Documents: A Primer by Joe St Sauver
- Essential Latex by Jon Warbrick
-
- And from my local bookstore (they don't necessarily have the following
- but they know about them)
-
- Abrahams, TEX FOR THE IMPATIENT. Addison Wesley Pub Co Inc., 1990.
- Bechtolsheim, TEX IN PRACTICE. Springer Verlag New York, Inc., 1991.
- Borde, TEX BY EXAMPLE. Academic Press Order Fulfillment, 1992.
- Buerger, LATEX. Mcgraw Hill Book Company, 1989.
- Diller, LATEX LINE BY LINE TIPS AND TECHNIQUES FOR DOCUMENT PROCESSING.
- Wiley, John & Sons, Inc., 1992.
- Eijkhout, TEX BY TOPIC. Addison Wesley Pub Co Inc., 1992.
- Goos, 236 TEX FOR SCIENTIFIC DOCUMENTATION. Springer Verlag New York,
- Inc.,1986.
- Hahn, LATEX FOR EVERYONE. Personal Tex, 1992.
- Seroul, BEGINNER'S BOOK OF TEX. Springer Verlag New York, Inc., 1991.
- Snow, TEX FOR THE BEGINNER. Addison Wesley Pub Co Inc., 1991.
- Spivak, JOY OF TEX. Addison Wesley Pub Co Inc., 1987.
-
-
- I have only used the TeX book and the LaTeX manual so I can't comment
- on the others and whether they are useful.
