  44. A call for papers, call for posters, call for topics,
  45. call for case studies, call for questions, call for answers,
  46. call for participation.

  52. GENERAL INFORMATION
  53.  
  54. SGML '92 is a high-speed, interactive technical conference for
  55. people who are using SGML now, or are just on the verge. 
  56.  
  57. We will hear success stories and discuss the problems and issues facing
  58. users in the telecommunications, airlines, pharmaceutical, insurance,
  59. legal, financial, automotive and academic communities -- all groups
  60. that are using or considering SGML to improve the ways they manage,
  61. analyze, interchange and deliver information.
  62.  
  63. By participating in SGML '92, you will have the opportunity to:
  64.  
  65. - hear from leaders in the field
  66.  
  67. - share integration experience and application details with
  68.         fellow practitioners
  69.  
  70. - examine the products (DTDs, documentation, output specifications
  71.         and end products) of other SGML applications
  72.  
  73. - participate in working groups
  74.  
  75. - view much of the published literature on SGML, and have
  76.         the opportunity to examine and buy books, manuals,
  77.         tutorial guides, etc
  78.  
  79. The 1992 conference will have two main components:
  80. a collection of long presentations (making up half
  81. of each day) and poster sessions, one-and-a-half-hour periods
  82. during which a number of people will simultaneously present ideas,
  83. strategies and detailed content models on a theme. Attendees will be 
  84. encouraged to move around the room from presenter to presenter,
  85. engaging in discussion in small groups, offering their own solutions
  86. to problems mentioned, and so on.

  90. Based on current interest and proposed topics, SGML '92 promises
  91. to continue the conference series' tradition of highly interesting,
  92. stimulating, challenging presentations, workshop topics, case studies
  93. and poster sessions. We are looking for contributions from all corners
  94. of the SGML world. We want reports from industry activities, from
  95. governmental or organizational initiatives, from user groups, from
  96. users. We're looking for informed opinion and opinionated information,
  97. and anything in between.

  99. In addition, we're looking for participants. People who will
  100. pose questions, propose solutions, and argue late into the night.

  103. WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
  104.  
  105. You should attend SGML '92 if you have a good understanding of SGML
  106. and are eager to explore the full range of SGML applications today.
  107.  
  108. Alternatively, if you are a person who sends others to such events, and
  109. if you send your backroom engineers and wizards to only one conference
  110. a year, this should be the one. (Also: They should present papers,
  111. conduct poster sessions, get on the program.)

  113. If you are an SGML novice plan to attend the Just Enough Tutorial,
  114. Sunday Oct 25 from 1 to 4 pm. The tutorial provides a basic overview
  115. on SGML for those who are just beginning to understand SGML and can
  116. serve as a good review for those who are out of practice.

  118. It is urged that all beginners attend the tutorial to maximize 
  119. their participation in the SGML Conference.
