- Fergit X! It would have made quite a difference here. We were looking
- for graphics terminal routines ala Blit, since we had a terminal
- analogous to an original Mac with a bigger screen. X (at the time) was
- way too hoggy (still is, in fact :-), and I looked into getting Blit
- stuff as a base for us. Got laughed at, sort of. We ended up writing
- our own, which in fact turned out rather nicely, but it took a hell of a
- long time. The first year and a half was a skunkworks project. (Maybe
- this is how all the best stuff starts anyway?)
-
- It looks like the Mac Quickdraw imaging model grafted to the X networking
- model. Maybe we would have been layers compatible had more of that stuff been
- available from the toolchest. I don't know. Certainly we've got everything
- (and probably then some) that layers offers (over a LAN connection, anyway),
- but it was a pain.
