- Here's an interesting problem for ya. We have a Zenith 320/SX machine here.
- This particular model comes with a PS/2 mouse built into the motherboard. We
- are also running a Novell network (3.11) with SMC and/or Western Digital cards.
- In this particular machine, presently there is a 16-bit SMC 10-base-T Ethercard
- inside (although an 8-bit WD card replicates the problem.)
-
- The problem: Regardless of how the SMC card is configured, the PS/2 mouse will
- not function properly. After a few seconds of use, it behaves sporatically and
- randomly. The problem seems to originate with the packet driver we are using.
- But, the strange part is, the mouse and the packet driver do not access the same
- interrupts or port addresses. I cannot find any overlaps anywhere. (Well,
- unless I use a serial mouse. This "alleviates" the problem. . .and wastes a
- PS/2 port and mouse.)
-
- So far Zenith's only response has been "why are you using packet drivers?"
-
- Can anyone give me a thoughtful response? Anything would be helpful. (E-mail
- is preferrable.) Thanks.
-
- Catch me later!
