- In my opinion, your 4 Transputers on the B014 is good for two things:
-
- 1. as a testbed for teaching parallel processing concepts to cs
- majors.
-
- 2. for reactive programs, i. e. programs which interact with the
- environment, eg embedded systems, robotics and instrumentation.
-
- If you want to increase performance over your Sun4, there are better
- ways than the four Transputers. I would suggest PVM on a network of
- SUNs. PVM is a message passing library for C and Fortran from Oak
- Ridge National Labs and is free. PVM has a reasonable development
- environment.
