  14. Repost, wider audience, looser price requirements.  Pointers welcome;
  15. if you don't have any of this stuff yourself, but you can recommend a
  16. computer junk dealer or some such, I'd still like to hear from you.

  18. I'm interested in picking up a used Sun.  I hope there are some
  19. commercially obsolete (or nearly so) systems out there (still nice
  20. for home hacking) that folks would like to unload for a bit of cash.

  22. Here's what I'm looking for, in order of preference:

  24. Base units:
  25. (CPU, case, power supply, monitor, keyboard, mouse & all cables)
  26.  
  27. 3/60 C    4 meg        $1000 or less
  28. 3/60 M    4 meg        $ 900  "   "
  29. 3/80 C    4 meg        $1000  "   "
  30. 3/80 M    4 meg        $ 900  "   "
  31. SLC  M   16 meg        $1600  "   "
  32. SS1+ M/C  8 meg        $2100  "   "
  33. SS1  M/C  8 meg        $1800  "   "

  38. *  If I go for a 3/50, I'd really prefer one that's been set up
  39.    with one of those add-on memory kits that were sold by several
  40.    vendors just a couple years ago, but I might settle for 4 Meg
  41.    if all other systems are too high-priced.

  43. [note: a "C" (color) system, from this list, could be either 16"
  44.  or 19", I'd be happy with either.]

  54. All CPUs must include monitor & frame buffer - either mono or
  55. color - in good condition, and a fully functional keyboard and
  56. mouse (no disintegrating mouse pads).

  58. Monitor in "good condition" means no major phosphor burns, good
  59. image focus, bright enough to see in normal room lighting.
  60.  
  61. Companies/Corporations - great chance to unload that lone 3/xxx
  62. that you've been using as a doorstop for the past year.  Or maybe
  63. that old 141/60 shoebox that's just too damn slow to use on your
  64. SPARC systems nowadays.

  66. I'd like to inspect the merchandise before purchase, and I would
  67. handle transportation myself...so it'd be nice if you're within a
  68. 50 mile radius of Boston, but I might go as far as 200 miles for
  69. a really good deal...perhaps as far south as NYC, west to Albany NY,
  70. north to Burlington VT.
