- This posting is only relevant to you folks who have some used Sun
- equipment you'd like to sell, if you're within 100 miles of Boston.
-
- I'm interested in doing some home UNIX hacking, and would like
- to pick up a used Sun. I figure there ought to be quite a few
- obsolete (or nearly so) systems out there that folks would like
- to unload for a bit of cash.
-
- Here's what I'm looking for, in order of preference:
-
- [Don't bother if you can't beat the "under $xxx" price. My
- "will pay" price is where *I* start bidding...if you like my
- my "will pay" price, you've probably made a sale. Anywhere
- between the two, and we can negotiate.]
-
- CPUs: [note: C = either 16" or 19" color monitor.]
-
- 3/60 C 4 meg under $ 900, will pay $ 700
- 3/60 M 4 meg under $ 800, will pay $ 650
- 3/80 C 4 meg under $ 900, will pay $ 700
- 3/80 M 4 meg under $ 800, will pay $ 650
- SLC M 16 meg under $1400, will pay $1000
- SS1+ M/C 8 meg under $1900, will pay $1500
- SS1 M/C 8 meg under $1600, will pay $1200
- 3/110C 8 meg,scsi under $ 700, will pay $ 550
- 3/140M 8 meg,scsi under $ 700, will pay $ 550
- 3/50 M 8+ meg* under $ 500, will pay $ 350
-
- * yes, I know that a stock 3/50 only accommodates 4 meg. I
- wouldn't even touch a 3/50 unless it had one of those add-on
- 4 or 8-meg memory expansions that were sold for 3/50s a few
- years ago.
-
- Disk/Tape subsystems:
-
- 141/60 shoebox under $ 500, will pay $ 350
- 327/60 shoebox under $ 900, will pay $ 800
- 210 meg 3.5" internal under $ 325, will pay $ 250
- 105 meg 3.5" internal under $ 150, will pay $ 100
-
- All CPUs must include monitor & frame buffer - either mono or
- color - in good condition, and a fully functional keyboard and
- mouse (no disintegrating mouse pads).
-
- Monitor in "good condition" means minimal phosphor burns, good
- image focus, bright enough to see in normal room lighting.
-
- Companies/Corporations are quite welcome to respond, but I'm only
- looking for *one* system. I can't take your entire inventory of
- old 3/50s or 3/110s, but I might buy one!
-
- I'd prefer to inspect the equipment before purchase, so it'd be
- nice if you're within a 50 mile radius of Boston. I'd consider
- a longer drive if you've got an exceptional deal. If you're
- more than 100 miles away, that's just too far, and I'm sorry you
- wasted your time reading this message...but I *did* try to limit
- distribution to Massachusetts.
-
- If you've got internet access, finger me "mikem@llex.ll.mit.edu"
- (but *don't* send Email to me there; use "mikem@ll.mit.edu" for
- mail!) to see if I'm still seeking equipment. I'll keep my .plan
- date-stamped, and will update it with every new offer I receive.
