- The History: In the past year we've made almost a complete hardware change from 3/50s to
- a mixed environment of IPXs and ELCs. Several of these systems were bought
- with their own disk, but to save some money we decided to re-use some of the
- shoeboxes (140Mb) hard drives we used with the old 3/50s. From what we have
- heard from others there should be no problem with doing this (other then having
- to buy some special SCSI cables).
-
- The Problem: I've been attempting to install 4.1.2 on a shoebox which is attached to one of
- the ELCs, but the ELC simply refuses to recognize that the SCSI disk (sd0) is
- there (I am using the GENERIC kernel by the way, so it does have the drivers
- for it). One of the shoeboxes has a tape drive which the ELC DOES recognize (st0),
- but no such luck for the disk.
-
- The Request: HELP! Does anyone have any suggestions what I should do? Can a 3/50 shoebox be
- used on an ELC? Is there something special that needs to be twiddled to make
- it recognize the disk?
-
- Any help would be appreciated.
