- |Under 4.1.1 you will need a patch. This comes with Sun 1.3G drives, and
- |you can get it from Sun if you have software support (now that they
- |sealed up the support BBS).
- |
- |4.1.2 supports drives greater than 1G quite nicely (the CD-ROMs with the
- |patches that we got with our 1.3G drives had big orange stickers saying
- |"DON'T INSTALL THESE ON 4.1.2"). It also has a lot of other bug fixes.

- I am now shopping for a disk in the 500M - 1.3G range for a
- SPARCstation 2 running SunOS 4.1.1. I gather that there would
- be trouble with a 1.3G, and since I don't have software support
- I might be better off to avoid trouble for now. This leaves me
- wondering: what's the largest disk I can use without patches ?
- [I apologize if this is a FAQ, but until quite recently I've
- been oblivious to such issues.]
-
- For that matter, I would like to know if anyone out there has
- particular recommendations for drives (in the above range of
- sizes, for internal installation in a Ss2).
-
- Any information on either point would be much appreciated.
