- We have recently switched from running X11R4 with twm to OpenWindows version
- 3 with olwm on Suns are running SunOS 4.1.1 and 4.1.2. In checking out
- various applications, I noticed the following wierd behavior with xrn.
-
- When xrn is launched on the local workstation (i.e., the one on which the X
- server is running), it starts up with a message "Some XRN functionality may
- be missing". Actually it functions quite normally except that the middle
- mouse button is disabled and the display is messed up: the scroll bars are
- missing and the labels on the function buttons are not quite right. However,
- if one does a remote login to another system and launches xrn there, then
- everything is perfectly normal. In fact, if one starts up a server on
- workstation A, then logs in to workstation B and follows that with a rlogin
- to A and launches xrn on A during that login, again everything is perfectly
- normal.
-
- I have repeated this experiment several times on various workstations, and
- others have noticed the same behavior, so this is not a one time fluke.
-
- Also, we get the same behavior whether xrn is linked with the OW X libraries
- or the X11R4 libraries.
-
- Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how to fix it?
