  12. I am about to attempt an upgrade on a SUN Sparcstation 2 and I would like some
  13. advice from people who have done this before. What I"m probably going to do is
  14. this:

  16. 1st - Upgrade OS to 4.1.2. Right now we're running 4.1.1 SMALL_W_FIX.
  17. 2nd - Upgrade OW to 3.0.   Right now we're running 2.0
  18. 3rd - Install X11R4. I know OW comes with it, but I need the profiling libaries
  19. and probably static versions, so I need the source to build them.

  21. I've not done any of these before, but everyone here says, "oh, know it's not
  22. hard. Just backup first! :-( )
  23. So, I would like some hints if anyone has something to say. Any thing that
  24. is sure to break, or is tricky, or whatever. Any info at all will be greatly
  25. appreciated.

  27. The X11 might be a little tricky as I probably won`t be able to install it all
  28. on the /usr partition as it is currently at 102% capacity (down from 103%
  29. yesterday!). I'm going to clear some stuff out of /usr, but I'll probably
  30. put some X stuff on a different fs.

  32. Please let me know if you have any knowledge I can put to good use tomorrow.
  33. There are other people here who know how to do this type of upgrade, so I'm
  34. pretty sure if I get stuck, I can get help, but I'd rather not get stuck
  35. in the first place!
