- I have configured the serial port and v32bis modem (set @ 14,400 bps) on my SS1
- to support a remote user on an old Dec VT-330 terminal that operates at a max
- speed of 19.2K. UUCP files, ttytab, & eeprom are all set for 19.2K. I use
- UUCP/tip from my home IPC & now want to increase the speed to use PPP
- effectively. I got UUCP to work @ 38.4K by reconfiguring ttytab etc, but the
- remote terminal user can no longer access the SS1. Autobaud detection in
- ttytab via a D38400 entry nx'ed to D19200 doesn't seem to work (UUCP/tip never
- connects). Any ideas how I can run this mix of baud rates on the port?
- (Access times are unpredictable, so a cron reset of ttytab & kill -1 1
- wouldn't be satisfactory.)
-
- 3 more questions:
- 1. should I be running `hardware' flow control on the
- terminal/modems/eeprom/UUCP/etc?
-
- 2. when I reconfigured to 38.4K, UUCP xfers only increased from about 930 cps
- to 1050 cps. Could this less than impressive increase be due to excessive
- interrupts? Both the SS1 & IPC were docile other than the UUCP link.
-
- 3. Where can I get the most recent PPP, & has anyone experienced problems
- with it on OS 4.1.1 or 4.1.2?
-
- Pls reply by e-mail & thanks in advance!
