- I am running a package (Informix OnLine) that uses a raw disk slice for
- its database. On shutdown, to prevent data loss or corruption, I need
- to run an informix program to flush that disk slice and prevent any further
- requests, so that the database is orderly. They say to add this to "shutdown".

- That would be well and good if /etc/shutdown were a shell script, but it
- isn't. Is there any "nice" way to add tasks to /etc/shutdown, or am I
- going to have to write an "ugly" shellscript or C wrapper around it?
- I've checked the manual on shutdown and a couple of related things,
- but haven't seen anything that indicates I can do this cleanly, but I
- figured I'd ask the collective wisdom of the net before giving up.
