- Your unreliable source is indeed unreliable. Indigo uses good old
- single ended SCSI, not differential. Differential interfaces can
- go to 25m instead of 6m, and are inherently more immune to crosstalk,
- etc. (They are also usually more expensive, when available.)

- | either NFS remote mount it from my Sun network, or at least plug

- | drive, so can't load software or boot?
-
- If the Sun machine will export it, you should be able to mount it.
- You can *probably* plug it in locally, and may even be able to
- boot and install software from it; some folks have reported success,
- others failure.
-
- | 3) Perhaps I can use a remote SGI CDROM off my net attached to another SGI?
- | Can I boot diskless, plug in this above SCSI disk, and set it up as the
- | boot disk?
-
- SGI systems can export EFS CD-ROM's with no trouble, but ISO-9660
- can only be exported to another SGI system (running 4.0.1 or later),
- and it has to be a bit non-standard (among other things, you have
- to export the mount directory before mounting the CD, which is rather
- unusual ;)
