- Help! I need to get some serial ports working and the hotline is
- seriously backlogged.
-
- We have a 4D/210 with one cdsio board. We use a total of eight
- serial ports simultaneously on this machine, two from the CPU
- board and the six from the cdsio board. Under 3.3.2 things
- were running fine, but the six ports on the cdsio board couldn't
- all keep up with 38,400 baud simultaneously.
-
- We got a firmware upgrade for the cdsio board (to 20005), but
- this required us to go to 4.0.5. Now the cdsio ports work great,
- but we're getting errors trying to use the CPU-board ports at
- 38.4 - 'baud rate' or 'framing' errors according to the devices
- we have attached. The only thing that's changed is the operating
- system; the CPU-board ports worked fine under 3.3.2.
-
- SGI borrowed this system for a demo and their way of getting
- around this problem was to install a second cdsio board
- temporarily. We don't have that option (darn :) so we need to
- get these CPU board ports working.
-
- Any assistance greatly appreciated.
