- I am preparing an Indigo for shipping to a new site and after removing what
- I thought were all the necessary links to the rest of the (old) world and
- setting it up for stand-alone use, I have a problem with logging in. When
- I use pandora (/etc/config/visuallogin = "on"), I can enter a userid and
- password, but the screen goes to the light-blue background for a second,
- and then I am back at pandora. I tried setting up ids with no password,
- and lots of other things but to no avail.
-
- The weird thing is that if I turn visuallogin off (by starting system from
- PROM in single user mode, then mounting disk, then running chkconfig, and
- then rebooting), I can run the system just fine with manual login. But if
- try to have visuallogin, I am dead in the water again.
-
- This system is running Irix 4.0.1 and worked fine as part of the network.
- Changes made were in things like /etc/hosts, /etc/passwd, /etc/groups,
- /etc/init.d/network.local, /etc/fstab, /etc/exports, and
- /usr/etc/resolv.conf just to decouple the machine from the old network
- before moving it.
-
- Any help would be much appreciated!!!

- Rob.
