- +Subject: Serial ports on IRIS
-
- +WHAT is the difference between the serial port devices -- ttym, ttyd, ttyf?
- +This is (of course) not documented anywhere. I have a printer currently
- +set up to do x-on/x-off, which works fairly well with ttyd. I would LIKE
- +to make it do ready/busy (DTR, DSR, whatever).
-
- I found man pages under `duart' and `cdsio' on my system running
- a SGI Irix 3.3 operating system. `man serial' also displays useful
- information on a SGI Irix 4.0 operating system.
-
- +Do I still use ttyd and try to set stty to do this, or is ttyf intended
- +to do this instead? And what about ttym (which seems to be intended for
- +modems, but who knows)?
-
- This is not controlled by stty to the best of my knowledge. Now, Dave Olson
- may show me to be wrong.
-
- +Any clues will be appreciated.
