- Recently I asked the net if anyone had pcnfsd working, as I had a
- problem with printing. I got many helpful answers and several requests
- to re-post. My problem was solved by:
-
- "John W. Schwegler" <john@sg25.aud.temple.edu>
-
- who said:
-
- >Where are you putting the pcnfsd.conf file? Although the man
- >page specifies /etc/pcnfsd.conf, a 'strings pcnfsd | grep pcnfsd.conf'
- >reveals that SGI compiled it to look for /etc/config/pcnfsd.conf.
- >This should have been documented, I never noticed because (1) I don't
- >use pcnfsd.conf in our current setup, and (2) I ended up compiling
- >pcnfsd from the source to make a couple of minor mods.
-
- Thanks for many other helpful suggestions on various ways to configure
- pcnfs printing! The bottem line is that pcnfsd from sgi.com is a version 2
- (4.0 in PC lingo) psnfsd that mostly works out-of-the-box on SGI systems
- (e.g., this pcnfsd defaults to lp for its "normal" printing).
