- Help! I recently had my 4D/310GTX upgraded to IRIX 4.0.5. I can't
- seem to keep the spaceball daemon from dying/disappearing. I didn't
- have this problem under IRIX 3.3.1. Can any of you shed some light
- on why the spaceball daemon is dying? Using the visual admin tools
- I configured the spaceball and dial box onto ttyd1 and ttyd2 respectively.
- The confidence tests verify that the hardware is operational. Some of
- the demos work with the spaceball as advertised.
-
- Vital info (for those who might require it): Iris 4D/310GTX, IRIX 4.0.5.
- SpaceBall software v2.2. Running /etc/gl/spaceball/sbtest verifies that
- the spaceball is hooked to ttyd1. I modified /etc/inittab with the proper
- port, etc. After issuing 'telinit q', I hear the spaceball beep repeatedly
- but after that point, the spaceball daemon disappears.
-
- I guess everything that "required" the spaceballd daemon does not work now.
- Does anyone have any work arounds for this problem? We have quite a bit of
- code that was dependant upon the spaceball daemon's existence. Sorry if this
- is a FAQ subject. I don't remember seeing much go by on comp.sys.sgi that
- had to do with the SpaceBall under IRIX 4.0.x. Thanks for the help!
