  30. We push the limit on SCSI cable lengths and consequently see a fair number
  31. of SCSI errors.  We've been trying to nail down as accurately as possible
  32. what the usable SCSI bus length is.  The January/February issue of Pipeline
  33. says "On a Personal IRIS or Magnum system, the internal SCSI cables are
  34. approximately 8 feet long, ..."  (Adding a SCSI Peripheral to an IRIS
  35. System, pg.  12).  Is this a correct figure?  How long is the SCSI cabling
  36. inside other boxes, such as an Expansion Cabinet, an Indigo, and a Crimson?

  38. We've also seen bad SCSI cables.  On one of our systems, swapping SCSI
  39. cables of the same length but different vendor completely solved a
  40. not-so-intermittent parity error on the SCSI bus.  A cable-tester showed no
  41. connectivity problems in the bad cable.  Are there any reliable ways to
  42. tell a good SCSI cable from a bad SCSI cable?
