  13.     One of our unhappy customers alarmed at the bug found for NAG used with
  14. f77 in IRIX 4.0.4 also writes:

  16.     What I have encountered is clearly a bug in
  17. either dbx or f77; to the best of what I've found, the ucode optimizer
  18. seems to delete the references to the common blocks, because it does not
  19. happen when normal optimization is done.  Very probably, the -g3 option
  20. of f77 is broken.
