- Hi, I'm Francesco Di Tolla from the University of Trento (Italy).
- Next september I'll be in Paris at the CECAM (Centre Europeen de
- Calcul Atomique et Moleculaire) to develop a graphich tool to
- visualize the dinamical evolution of a many particle system.
- At the moment a program has been already developed by Valter
- Cavecchia and I and it works under SGI GL using Spheres sublibrary
- and FORMS (a C-library for dialogues). Next step is to develop
- somthing usufull to as many UNIX machines as possible and I don't
- know whether it's better to rebuild all unde X-window, or to continue
- to use SGI GL, we prefer to continue to use the GL, because they are
- much sinpler then X. So I've some question about the compatibility
- of SGI GL whith non SG machines, if someone has some experience on
- this topic, any answer would be appreciated:
-
- - which workstation do support (or will support) SGI GL?
- (I know that IBM-risc6000 do have them for instance)
-
- - the IBM-risc6000 I've seen didn't support spheres sublibrary
- doe's it happen cause the impossibility to support hardware
- drawing of spheres (as it happen for some (big) SG machine)
- on IBM machine or was only due to an uncomplete installation
- of the GL library on the IBM machine I've used?
- (We use spheres to represent atoms, of course).
-
- - are GL on machines different from SG fully compatible?
-
- - is FORMS library compatible?
-
- Thanks in advance
-
- Franz
