- This discussion about naming a group PDAs or Newton has me wondering
- if any of you can answer a simple question. What is the difference
- between PDA's and Pen computers? Surely, those who've been
- working in the Pen area for the last few years realize that the beauty
- of the pen 'n paper metaphor is that it scales quite easily from the
- itty bitty handhelds, to whiteboard size computers. PDA's (an
- Apple term) is nothing more than a branch of this vision.
-
- This discussion with quotes such as "I think the Newton will stay as the
- most popular PDA due to company name recognition.", and such naive
- articles such as the one in Byte this month discussing how neat it was
- Newton could recognize circle gestures and pretty them up, shows a
- serious misunderstanding of where the technology is today, and where it
- is headed, IMHO.
