- You are almost correct. The DB9 to RS232 adapter that comes with
- the Connectivity Pack is made to connect to a PC. You need a different
- DB9 to RS232 designed for a modem (swaps 2 and 3) or a NUll Modem adapter
- on the end of DB9 to DB25.

- I use the Worldport 2400, the pne recommended by HP. Note that the
- 95LX does not provide any of the RS-232 control signals, such as DTR,
- and some battery powered modems need these signals to operate. Therefore,
- not all battery powered modems will work on the 95LX. Test before you buy!
- If you type AT and get an OK from the modem, all is well.

-
- The built-in terminal emulator is OK, but not great. It does VT100
- emulation, but does not provide a full emulation. For example, the
- VT100 function keys are not available. May normal DOS terminal emulation
- packages will not work due to a bug in the serial port. I use Columbia
- Kermit, Version 2.29a. This is a older version that lacks the Tektronix
- terminal emulation available in the newer versions, but does a great job
- emulating a VT102 terminal. Allows all VT102 function keys to be emulated.
- Using DIET, the program is compressed to about 38K, vs 65K (or so) for
- current Kermits. It works in spite of the serial port bug, and it is free.

- I don;t have current price info. Sorry.
