- I am having little success connecting a NeXTstation to the net via the
- twisted-pair ethernet port. I have added the IP address of the
- machine, the local router and name server to the /etc/hosts file, and
- also the appropriate addresses to the /etc/hostconfig file. However,
- I keep getting the message: "network disabled or you're not connected
- to it". (The physical connections seem fine, and I will check out the
- cable later.) In its former site the machine was successfully
- connected to a Sun network via the thin ethernet connection, though I
- cannot tell from consulting the backup copies of the various /etc/rc*
- and /etc/host* files what needs to be set for the current network,
- except that the local name server does not seem to be identified
- anywhere.
-
- ANY help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
