- I pass news to a NeXT system via a 9600 baud v.32 dialup modem connection.
- Typically, I expect to get ~850 bytes/sec throughput using uucico. However,
- on systems which insist on using the old uucico default of 3 for a window
- size, this throughput drops to about 700 bytes/sec. This is what I
- see when talking to the NeXT.
-
- I know very little about this machine and operating system. However,
- I would like to minimize the modem connect time. Various patches have
- been released for different versions of uucico to increase the window
- size to 7, and thereby increase the 9600 baud thruput. Newer uucicos
- even allow specifying the window size in the Systems file. I am not
- familiar with the NeXT, and none of the mechanisms I have suggested
- appear to work with its uucico. I would be grateful if someone could
- tell me how this can be done.
-
- Please respond directly to me, as I neither own a NeXT, nor read this
- newsgroup on any kind of a regular basis. Thanks in advance.
