- I have an email question for you. A colleague is attempting
- to configure his NeXT to receive mail via Internet. He has
- been assigned an IP number, etc., and is able to telnet out
- to other machines, ftp, etc. without a problem. Other people can
- telnet into his machine, and the "finger" command works fine.
- However, mail does not work as it should. This machine is
- on a non-NetInfo network (at present).
-
- From the transcript of a mail -v command, it seems that
- the machine name is being constructed incorrectly. That is,
- instead of hostname.institution.edu the machine name
- is hostname.institution.edu.institution.edu.
-
- Is there something simple that needs to be fixed here?
-
- Thanks,
-
