- My primary concern was that someone would be tempted to use your
- solution without thinking of the implications. NeXT made a number of
- configuration decisions that are best suited for an "off-net" machine,
- but they also *documented* that they were bad ideas (and told you how to
- fix them before going "on-net").

- Yes, your solution is quite workable in many locations (hey, if I had a
- machine at home without a modem, I might not bother getting a real cron
- either). It's not workable in the more and more common environment of
- the Internet (remember, folks, SLIP works both ways!).
