- I have had a similar problem with mathematica filling up the
- swap disk. I also had to power cycle the machine to get it
- back up. When the machine came back up, I found that my
- dock parameters (preferences) had been wiped! It seems that this
- was all the damage that was done, yet, there must be
- something poorly designed in the interaction between mathematica and
- the NeXT Step memory manager which allows mathematica to grab sections of
- the hard disk which are already in use, for the purpose of virtual
- memory allocation.
