- Well here is a partial list that was posted a while back that I added to in

- Here's some useful tips and goodies I discovered while playing with
- Workspace defaults (NeXT OS 2.1). If someone tries these in 3.0,
- I'd be interested in reading the results.
-
- First, some comments:
- 1. Numbers between () indicate default values (where known)
- 2. I've included a list of some Workspace defaults at the end
- (these should complement the output generated by using
- EPS' wmdefaults program posted recently).
- 3. To set any of these defaults, I suggest using wmdefaults,
- otherwise, use dwrite. Either way, you'll have to logout
- and log back in for them to take effect. Using dremove,
- however, will not delete the defaults from the Workspace
- defaults.wmd file. You'll have to use wmdefaults, or save
- a copy of the file before making any changes. 'Nuff said!
-
- Workspace AppDockCount (NULL)
- ??????????????
-
- Workspace AppDockExtent (32?)
- This default specifies the space in pixels to the left of the Dock
- which activates when icons are dragged from the file viewer (i.e.
- activates the Recycler and application lock functions). The number
- is relative to the left edge of the Dock. Note: this space is also
- available to the right of the Dock if it was moved using
- AppDockOffsetX (see above)!
-
- Workspace AppDockFiles (NULL)
- A semi-colon separated list of the names of apps installed in the
- Dock. Typically set through the Workspace preferences panel.
-
- Workspace AppDockHysteresis (?)
- ???????????????????
-
- Workspace AppDockLaunchFlags (NULL)
- This default indicates which applications installed in the Dock are to
- be automatically launched during login. The value is a decmial bit map
- of each icon position on the Dock (not including the NeXT logo icon)!
- Typically set through the Workspace preferences panel.
-
- Workspace AppDockOffsetX (-3)
- This default controls the horizontal position of the Dock. It's value
- is the number of pixels separating the right edge of the Dock and the
- right edge of the screen. Negative values move the Dock to the left,
- while postive values move it to the right.
-
- Workspace AppDockOffsetY (0)
- This default controls the vertical position of the Dock. It's value
- is the number of pixels separating the top edge of the Dock and the
- top edge of the screen. Negative values move the Dock down, while
- postive values move it up.
-
- Workspace ApplicationPaths (NULL)
- A semi-colon separated list of directories where applications are
- known to reside. The workspace uses this to figure out which Apps.
- respond to open requests for the various file extensions, and what
- icons to use for documents generated by each App.
-
- Workspace BypassPowerOffConfirm (No)
- If you really can't be bothered to hit the return key after pressing
- the power off/on key.
-
- Workspace CacheLaundryInterval
- ?????????????????????? Possibly a tuning variable for the fabled
- Workspace Garbage Collection mechanism.
-
- Workspace ConsolePath (?)
- ????????????? Where to find console.daemon?
-
- Workspace CoreLimit (NULL)
- Places a limit on the size of core dump files created when an App.
- crashes. Equivalent to the unix limit command. Setting CoreLimit to
- 0 means that Apps. that crash will not produce a core file.
-
- Workspace DefaultOpenApp (Edit)
- Specifies the path to the application that is to be launched or sent
- a openFile message whenever the user tries to open a file that has no
- registered application for the type.
-
- Workspace FolderUnsortedAbove (?)
- ?????????????????????
-
- Workspace GCCompactInterval (?)
- ??????????????????? Possibly a tunning variable for for the fabled
- Workspace Garbage Collection feature.
-
- Workspace GCMinInterval (char *) 0x0
- ??????????????????? Possibly a tunning variable for for the fabled
- Workspace Garbage Collection feature.
-
- Workspace GCThreshold (char *) 0x0
- ??????????????????? Possibly a tunning variable for for the fabled
- Workspace Garbage Collection feature.
-
- Workspace IgnoreSignals (?)
- ???????????????
-
- Workspace LaunchPaths
- A semi-colon separated list of paths to applications to be launched at
- login. This is a supplement to autolaunching Docked applications. It
- is a good way start up background or housekeeping tasks that you want
- started everytime you log in.
-
- Workspace ShellPath
- Specifies the full path to the default unix shell. For example
- "/bin/csh".
-
- Workspace ShowNeighbors (Yes)
- Show other users directories as the two-house icon.
-
- loginwindow DebugHook (No)
-
- loginwindow DefaultUser (me)
-
- loginwindow HostName
-
- loginwindow ImageFile

- Specify a shell script to execute at login time. This must be set as
- root and will be executed for all users.
-
- loginwindow LogoutHook
- Specify a shell script to execute at logout time. This must be set as
- root and will be executed for all users.
-
- loginwindow PowerOffDisabled (No)
- Setting this to Yes will disable the power key on the keyboard.

- NeXT1 ClickSpace
- NeXT1 InitialKeyRepeat
- NeXT1 KeyRepeat
- NeXT1 Keymap
- NeXT1 MouseButtonsTied
- NeXT1 MouseHandedness
- NeXT1 MouseScaling
- Three numbers that determine the acceleration factor of the mouse
- pointer in relation to the speed of the mouse movement. Setting
- this default to "1 1 1" will make mouse movement linear.
- NeXT1 SystemBeep
- NeXT1 VisualBeep
-
- System BoldSystemFont (Helvetica-Bold)
- System Language (English)
- System PublicSoundServer
- System PublicWindowServer
- System SystemFont (Helvetica)
