- Yes, CD-ROM players usually don't use as high-quality (read: expensive)
- DACs and other components that give good audio output. After all, the
- play-cd feature is sortof an added bonus.

- CD players with digital output would work too well because you need
- something to control random access of the read head, and unless I'm mistaken,
- there's a bodacious formatting difference between audio and data CDs.
