- I did notice something that is prob. related to what you are seeing.

- I have a halogen lamp next to my NeXTstation mono. When it is off, but I
- have the lamp on for a while and then shut it off, you can see where
- the lamp's light was hitting the screen (it's off on one side of the monitor).
- I happened to notice it one night as I turned off all the lights. I figured
- that it has to do with the phosphor in the screen retaining the light. That
- is, in the same way that the pixel goes black after the electron gun isn't
- shooting at it, perhaps it's not fully "discharging" (or whatever you want to
- call it). The longer the screen is on, the whiter the black pixels become,
- resulting in an overall perception of a not so bright monitor...
