- The bottom line is, right now, yes, but not cheaply. One responder pointed out
- a 'scan-rate converter box'. This is a $10K-20K device that converts
- the RGB at 68hz scan rate to Composite 60hz scan rate. Seems RGB to composite
- is not the problem anymore, but the high scan rate of non-interlaced mega-pixel
- (generic) screens is the current stumbling block.
-
- Scan Converters are off-the-shelf items in most large metro areas, and I got my
- quote of $18K with 2 day ship out of Minneapolis. My video people concurred
- that this is a workable solution, and are in fact trying to justify one.
-
- The FAQs (I think) pointed out a 13W3 cable converter from NuData ((908) 842
- 5757), for around $100. I can probably get a high-end monitor with RGB and
- daisy chain to the convertor box.
-
- It is cheaper to use buy a NeXTdimension system to do this. The problem is
- that the entire screen is not presented through the NeXTtv app. This would
- be a bother, but not unworkable. I am trying to get an ND on loan to try
- it out with our video people, to see if it is acceptable.
-
- Most of the responses were misguided in the fact that I didn't want to have
- a standalone projection system (to a large screen). My problem is trying
- to get my NeXT to display on our multisite satellite teleconferencing system.
-
- Thanks to all who responded (since I didn't say I would summarize, I did
- not want to report your names, to protect the innocent;-).
