  34.          Installing Arabic, I had to drop the various bits in twice before
  35. they "caught". You must also have all elements - I do not know about
  36. Chinese or Hebrew, but Arabic consists of two control panels, two
  37. extensions and a system addition (keyboard layout) + the fonts (at least
  38. al-Qahira, the Arabic System font). In order to see Arabic in the Finder,
  39. the Finder font must then be set to al-Qahira (in the View control panel).
  40. In such a "hybrid" system, menus will normally not appear in Arabic, only
  41. Latin script (the "default" script).

  49.       Standard Nisus does not work properly with Arabic, only the far more
  50. expensive Nisus international does. Word does not, nor MacWrite, WriteNow
  51. or any other standard word processor I know of. The only script-manager
  52. comaptible programs for wp are the fairly obsolete AllScript (also sold
  53. under the names of RavK'tav and Nousous), WinText and Nisus int.(and for
  54. dtp, al-Nashir al-Maktabi). For simple text editing, the shareware
  55. miniWriter is script-manager compatible and works fine.
  56.       Databases are better, FileForce and 4th Dimension standard work fine
  57. with Arabic, as does HyperCard. Filemaker II used to be OK for displaying
  58. (not sorting) Arabic, but Filemaker Pro has lost that; another step
  59. backwards.
