- We use RevRdist too. I made a HD boot disk with System 7.0.1, AppleShare,
- the latest ethernet software (since all of our Macs are on ethernet), and
- RevRdist. I did this by removing the Finder, putting the freeware
- "NoFinder" in its place. NoFinder must be renamed to Finder (there is
- some way to avoid this, since Norton Utilites does it, but I don't know
- how).
-
- It is not possible to use Apple Menu Items unless the Finder is running,
- hence it is not possible to use the Chooser with my setup. Instead, use
- another Mac to make an alias to an application on a file server, when you
- launch the alias with NoFinder, the system will mount the file server
- automatically (asking for a password if necessary).
-
- Even if you boot with my setup, you can launch the Finder on the Mac's
- hard disk with NoFinder and then the Apple Menu comes back, and you can
- double-click the Chooser in the Apple Menu Items folder on the hard disk.
-
- You could probably put RevRdist in the Startup Items folder and have it
- work, since it knows how to mount file servers.
