  12. Is there any talk of recalling the governor? Is there time to get it
  13. on the November ballot?

  15. While I don't pretend to understand all the subtleties of the budget
  16. crisis, a governor who states publically that he would rather drive
  17. his state into chaos rather than compromise on the budget is guilty of
  18. gross misconduct. A governor's main job is to maintain order.

  20. He is evidently pursuing this tactic to make the voters angry, as I
  21. am--- angry enough that many of them will vote for his "welfare
  22. reform" "initiative" that will give him almost dictatorial
  23. budget-making powers at the expense of the legislature.

  25. I think we angry voters should be able to have another alternative.
  26. Perhaps we could have an initiative to put the onus on the governor to
  27. submit an acceptable budget by a certain date, with the penalty being
  28. loss of his job.

  30. Otherwise, just recall the turkey right now.

  32. the thing that makes me _really_ mad is that the fight is apparently
  33. of whether to just _murder_ education, as the legislature wants, or to
  34. _grossly_murder_ it.

  36. This is simply impossible to understand. Education has been on the
  37. defensive in California since Reagan was elected governor. When are
  38. Californians going to wake up and realize that the economic well-being
  39. of their state depends on having educated citizens. Californians must
  40. have a death wish. Looks like they're getting their wish.
