- I'm currently experiencing the following problem:
-
- . loss of my internal drive (SCSI 0) at random intervals .
-
- Now, this happens usually when the mac has been on for a while (say anything
- between 4 and 8 hours), I insert a disk and suddently, the 'watch-me'
- appears, no sound in the disk drive, the finder quits and can't reload
- (err 41) - I restart the mac, and the disk with an "?" appears. Run
- Norton's Disk Doctor, but no internal drive appears at addr 0 ..
-
- Turn the mac off for say an hour, restart, and everything's okay again (!)
- I sometimes got the disk back by opening the hood, and unplugging/replugging
- the disk connections (power and data) - but that doesn't work anymore.
- I experiencing this once a day now!!
-
- It seems as if something is overheating, no ? What can it be ?
- . the mac getting old ?
- . the disk ?
- . the disk controller ?
- . else ?
-
- My configuration is the following:
-
- MacIIx with a DayStar PowerCache 40MHz
- 8Mb RAM, 200Mb LaCie Tsunami (internal disk - a Maxtor actually)
- System 7.0 (british) with TuneUp 1.1.1
- Apple's 4*8 video board, with Apple's 13" Monitor
- Apple's EtherTalk NB card
-
- Any help, hints, ideas, experiences, comments will be more than welcome!!!
