- AppleShare uses a dedicated server, whereas system-7 file
- sharing can use anyone's computer as a server. The essential
- difference between the two, however, is that personal file
- sharing limits you to the number of station that can log on
- to a server, whereas AppleShare either has no limits, or the
- limits are much higher (I forget which). Personal file sharing
- via system 7 is good for small groups or for passing files
- between individuals. AppleShare is good for large work groups.
- ("large" is a nebulous quantity, I realize, but it is up to
- each group to decide which works best for it.)
