- I have found that if you have a Mac which normally uses System 7, but
- boot with System 6.x.x, the desktop gets rebuilt when you switch to
- System 7 again.
-
- My guess is that there are differences between the desktop for system 6
- and system 7, so that system 7 does not recognize the desktop if it
- was used under system 6, and thusly rebuilds it.
-
- Two things worry me about this :
-
- 1.) It doesn't do that with floppies
- 2.) It also says something to the effect of "Updating HD for new system software"
-
- My only other guess is that this only happens to boot HD's and bootable floppies,
- since I have not noticed it on my external HD.
-
- Anybody else have any ideas?
