- Yes, but ChineseTalk II *IS* *GOING* *TO* *GO* *AWAY*! This is a very important
- point right now, since System 7.1 with WorldScript is scheduled (as I understand
- it) to be released in the fall. Because ChineseTalk II and WorldScript handle
- fonts differently, I would *strongly* recommend either:
-
- (1) if you can wait a few months, wait until System 7.1 is released;
-
- (2) or, if you can't, install ChineseTalk II but *never* use the fonts with
- funny names. That is, use "*Ming Light*" and not "NT-MingLight*DynaLab." These
- fonts don't really exist; they're just a kludge so that Script Manager
- totally-in-the-dark applications like Word can do Chinese without wrapping lines
- in the middle of characters. I'm pretty sure the kludge will be dropped with
- System 7.1.
-
- (Unfortunately, I've got ChineseTalk II 1.0 installed, which gives all the
- Chinese fonts funny names. When I install WorldScript, I'm going to have to
- reset the fonts in all my documents as a result. :-( )
-
- BTW, ChineseTalk II is only for traditional Chinese. No simplified version has
- been or will be released.
-
- I really think it would be a good idea to add to the FAQ how to install Chinese
- and Japanese with System 7 right now and the fact that the current solutions for
- both these languages will be unnecessary when WorldScript is released.
