- I don't know about this generally having an effect, but it CERTAINLY does
- if you are using Norton Utilities' FileSaver. Its description in the
- manual mentions that it can be temporarily disabled (I think that's the
- phrasing?) by holding down the Command key as the Wastebasket empties. I
- presume it stops FileSaver squirreling the deleted file information away
- into its personal storage spaces. If so the speed increase is at the
- penalty of less robustness in file recovery in the event of a disk
- failure.
