- That was what Pink was supposed to be, or so I thought. But now from what I
- have heard Pink is more or less going by the wayside. At least that is
- the impression I get from this week's MacWeek. By that I mean that the OS
- is to become more a specialized corporate OS. It is actually kind of
- confusing, to me. Is Pink going to be the next Mac OS? What is the
- relation of AIXt to this? It seems like AIX will replace AUX and
- will have the AUX hooks to the Mac OS so that Mac programs will run
- on all AIX RS6000s. I hope that I am merely misinterpreting things. I
- think a new generation needs to be there. Something that cobines the
- features of Newton, Unix, and other insights into the MacOS.
-
- Personally my great hope for the IBM/Apple agreement was that perhaps
- Apple would move to become more like a Microsoft with vision. ie.
- get out of the majority of the hardware business. The agreement with
- Quorum for Unix running of Mac Apps would have been a great step. But
- I think that Apple wasn't thinking when they did it.
-
- Ah well. When Apple is good, they're great, but when they don't think they
- pull some doozies. Sometimes I wonder ifwhy Apple doesn't put enough people on
- projects such as ComToolbox support etc. C'est la vie. I'd still take
- it over Windows ANYDAY!
