- This is a good question. The primary beneficiaries of an object-oriented
- operating system (as opposed to OO wrappers of a conventional OS) are vendors of
- hardware and add-on system software: device developers, network software
- developers, system software extension providers, and system manufacturers. By
- leveraging OO technology for these vendors, you get more of an opportunity for
- them to innovate rather than have to grind out clones.

- Some people may assert that any good abstract device-driver interface will do
- the same thing, but this is similar to the classic argument that OOP is just
- data encapsulation (which it isn't). I'm not in charge of leaking confidential
- information :-) so I'll just leave everyone to speculate on how to leverage OOP
- inside an operating system. Also, note that I'm not an official spokesperson for
- Taligent; this information is all available from public talks that Taligent
- officials have given.
