- Being able to get two of them makes it easier than trying to decide on only
- one.
-
- I would suggest getting the IIci now; if it is not fast enough, you can always
- upgrade it to a Quadra 700 later. You can't upgrade a PowerBook (yet?).
- Even if the 33MHz PowerBooks don't materialize, you can still get a 140(145?)
- or a 170 in December. Choosing between the 140 and the 170 is difficult,
- depending upon your desires. Personally, I would go with the 140, if it
- weren't for that screen. I just don't like it; I'm not really enamoured of
- the screen on the 170 either, but it is much better than the one on the
- 140. If you can live with the 140's screen, and don't need the extra 50%
- increase in speed or the math chip of the 170, I'd save the $600 and go with
- the 140. The 140 is about as fast as a IIcx (but the Icx does have a math
- chip), and the 170 is about as fast as a IIci.
-
- The IIci can go up to 32 megs of RAM (with 4-meg SIMMs), but the PowerBooks
- can go up to only 8 or 10 megs (I forget the exact amount).
-
- Well, that's my opinon on the matter, for whatever it's worth.
