  11. A friend in the Ivory Coast has a Mac IIsi with a 105 Quantum which he
  12. bought from M.A.C in Berkeley, CA which is dying: the disk slowly fills up
  13. with bad blocks and is eventually unusable.

  15. He has replaced the motherboard and the drive, and has reformatted the
  16. drive both before and after the replacements.  Things work OK for a few
  17. days perhaps and then start to deteriorate.  MacTools will run under System
  18. 7 but reports many bad blocks.  (I seem to remember him saying that it
  19. takes *hours* to complete!)

  21. The problem first started under System 6.0.x and has continued under System
  22. 7.0.  (I don't know whether he has System TuneUp 7.???, whatever the
  23. latest is.)

  25. (1) Has anyone seen a problem similar to this before?

  27. (2) Are there any other things to check/replace?  I thought of the SCSI
  28. cable.
  29.  
  30. (3) What questions should I get answers to to make a more intelligent guess
  31. at the possible problem?
