- A friend in the Ivory Coast has a Mac IIsi with a 105 Quantum which he
- bought from M.A.C in Berkeley, CA which is dying: the disk slowly fills up
- with bad blocks and is eventually unusable.
-
- He has replaced the motherboard and the drive, and has reformatted the
- drive both before and after the replacements. Things work OK for a few
- days perhaps and then start to deteriorate. MacTools will run under System
- 7 but reports many bad blocks. (I seem to remember him saying that it
- takes *hours* to complete!)
-
- The problem first started under System 6.0.x and has continued under System
- 7.0. (I don't know whether he has System TuneUp 7.???, whatever the
- latest is.)
-
- (1) Has anyone seen a problem similar to this before?
-
- (2) Are there any other things to check/replace? I thought of the SCSI
- cable.
-
- (3) What questions should I get answers to to make a more intelligent guess
- at the possible problem?
-
- Any help would be MUCH appreciated.
