- I find this feature rather useless, since I always have about 5-6
- apps running in the background. I think out of about 20 times trying
- it, I have succeeded twice, with the computer freezing on my every
- other time. Of course, that's probably because I always forget to
- close down the things in the background.
-
- Regarding the stability of System 7- the only real problems
- I have had are incompatibility with the driver software (my fault,
- it was *real* old) and one folder that fell victim to the disappearing
- folder bug. Oh, and when I toss in an INIT that won't behave, but
- then I just turf it ... case closed. It's been great since I got
- sys 7, soon after it first appeared on the scene; in fact, I have
- been running it in 32-bit mode ever since, with no problems.
- Although I have 6.0.7 on a small partition (mainly for old games)
- I haven't used it in months. I am eagerly waiting for 7.1!
-
- I am a confirmed Mac fan since '84, but I will say that Windows 3.1
- (on a Gateway 486/25) is impressively fast, and runs Excel at
- least very well, from what I've seen. But I'll still stick with
- my Mac any day (IIsi, 17 meg RAM)
