- Are you sure it was *ONLY* the Finder & not also the System,
- specifically the 'cltb' or other color resources?
-
- Are you sure said "friend" didn't muck around with any other
- applications?
-
- Are you sure your son is telling you the whole story? (Hey!
- Let's see what cool things we can do with this INIT! Rad!)
-
- ResEdit is a very powerful tool that should only be used on
- copies of software. I wouldn't be honest if I claimed to
- follow that rule religiously. I have used it often enough
- to know when I'm treading on unfamiliar ground, and should
- make a backup copy of something before I proceed. Even
- then, bad things could happen. Case in point: once I was
- fooling around with the 'fmnu' resources in the Finder.
- I decided to open them with the 'MENU' template. I then
- reverted all changes and quit ResEdit. Next thing I know,
- all my Finder menus are screwed up. Trashing the corrupted
- Finder & replacing from the Installation disks solved that.
-
- You might have to reinstall your whole system. Next time,
- keep the ResEdit locked up.
