- My PowerBook 100 has an Apple modem installed in it, and flaky is the right
- adjective to describe it. There are times when NO software will recognize the
- modem EXCEPT the fax sender; after sending a fax initializes the modem, all my
- other software items DO recognize the modem and can dial out. This is
- FRUSTRATING AS SIN, Apple Corp., and a bit silly seeing how the Apple modem
- costs MORE than ANY OTHER AVAILABLE EQUIVALENT INTERNAL PB MODEM!
-
- The PowerBook itself is great, but when I buy my next one I am staying AWAY
- from Apple's internal modems, no matter what. If they give it to me for free
- I'll rip the thing out with my teeth if necessary and put in a PowerPort.
-
- By the way, I have had the Apple modem replaced by Apple, and it still doesn't
- work right...it's definitely a design thing. Occurs regardless of my system
- software, inits, etc. Zterm, Versaterm, Termulator, etc. don't like it. Not
- one bit.
